Business Cards

I chose a very simplistic but fun design for my business card. I used the logo I designed for the first project as the front and on the back came up with a few words to describe the show and provided the website (which in this case isn't real, yet!) and an email to contact me at. I also decided to throw in a picture of myself as many people know me (Gay Sean) and it is a good way to brand the show.

Lyrical Collage

I chose a song by Regina Spektor called "Us". It was my group of friends favorite song growing up. We always liked the idea that statues have this iconic quality to them, timeless. And we always wanted to be iconic and remembered. I wanted to show the frivolous and child like ways while contrasting it with the concept and visual of statues. 'Us' being among the giants (the remembered or iconic).

Vector

I found this project challenging and tried my best. I chose this photo to represent happiness. It was at my best friends house in North Carolina, where I spent this previous summer. The photo was also in black and white so I had to choose the colors based on what I remember about that shirt and the color of my skim.

Final Logo

I chose this as my final logo because I wanted something very simple, but bright and flashy. The rainbow is almost always associated with gay like things and since the word gay is in the title it just made sense to use a vector of a rainbow. The font is very simple as well. I do not like variation in fonts because I think it makes things look unprofessional and tacky.

Logo Critiques

The first logo I chose was Twitter. I am a Twitter fanatic and love this logo. I think what I like the most about this logo is the bird theme they keep that associates with the actual name Twitter or what you actually do which is 'Tweet', which is a sound you think of when you think of birds. I think this logo is aimed at social media users because many of the social media sites logos are some sort of blue color.

Firefox is another literal translation of logos. The literal fox on fire is what catches my attention and I think thats what makes it so brilliant. I also like that the 'fox' is enveloping the commonly used symbol for the internet. It is a very effective way to brand something so common. Also they are using complementary colors blue and orange.

Pepsi is the next logo which as evolved over the years. And now has become an internationally known symbol. But what I think is the most brilliant about there newest logo is that it takes America's primary colors and uses them for a soft drink logo. When Americans see these colors it is automatically going to strike a chord in them and I credit Pepsi for using colors as a primary advertising technique.

Nike is a logo that I actually do not like but respect. It is probably the most simplistic design that is so widely spread an recognized. The colors usually vary but the idea that the logo is literally just a check is amazing to me. I think it is mostly associated and aimed at men but I think the color variation can aim at different demographics.

Google is brilliant in everything they do so it makes sense that their logo is as well. First off it uses all primary colors which is just brilliant because many people know most of those colors. Also color is the main use in this logo because many times they change the logo for a certain holiday but no matter what it looks like people will associate those colors with the google logo.

Logo Ideas

Memoirs of a Gay Sean- My online web series chronicling my experience and journey through college.

Sunshine and Sweet Wine with Anna and Sean- This is my new and upcoming radio show on the college radio station WUTT. On fridays 1-2pm.

These are the two I really would like to focus on for my logo project.

First Post!

My name is Sean Lynch. I am a junior Communications major with a minor in History. I produce, create and run my own web series titled: Memoirs of a Gay Sean. (www.youtube.com/wickedman2121)

I am excited to learn about new types of digital media and become comfortable with them for use in my future endeavors. I am more of a visual person in that I would rather make a video or design a poster to express myself rather than formally writing or using another outlet.

Overall I am just excited and eager to learn.
